The Espy Kitchen & Function Rooms can cater for any event. The Espy is THE place to party! Melbourne's iconic home of live music has a stunning kitchen and bar area and now truly offers the whole package; great food, reasonable prices, killer location and the same relaxed Espy vibe.

The Espy Basement bar is situated downstairs and features a sunken 'pit' lounge area. This secluded and funky space also offers separate off street entrance and self contained facilities. The Espy Basement was renovated, relocated and re-opened in July 2005. The bar originally was home to Melbourne's first female-only club: "The Primitive Room", providing shelter to the 'seedier' side of St Kilda from as early as 1920. The space had been closed, bricked-up and untouched for over 35 years until renovations began in 2004. Now, the historic underground bar has been given new life with stunning wall-to-wall 60s psychedelic inspired imagery and a 'pit' area (further underground) featuring crude Russian tattoo artwork from the early 40s. The interior, designed by Christo Gillard has been fitted with a collection of tall church pews in the band area, and comfortable black couching in the pit, Christo opted to keep the floors' original tiling; a beautiful display of the bar's age.

Please note: the above charges are what you are required to spend on the night of your event. The amount can be spent on food and beverage or beverage alone. It can be spent as a bar tab or by individual consumption. As long as these minimums are met, there is no extra charge. If you do not reach these minimums, you will be required to pay the balance.

If there are big bands booked for the Basement, the space may be unavailable. However, if a function is booked, and it's confirmed as early as possible, bands will not be booked that night.
