Venue News

Goodbye Odeon - Co. at Crown opens Tonight
A new direction for an old school venue, Odeon at level 3 at Crown is reopening tonight with a fresh direction as Co. We have it on good authority that the emphasis will now be on "commercial anthems" rather than bands, and that the whole thing is going to be much more nightclub than before. In fact, celebrity DJs are planned. Opening is tonight. We're always a fan of opening nights at any venue, as everyone's usually in high spirits.

Miss Shanghai photos - St Kilda
We mailed recently about Miss Shanghai replacing Lionel in St Kilda. There's some photos online now here

Sneak - Richmond
We were excited to hear Sneak has opened up at 69 Swan Street - a new little bar apparently. We rushed to Google Streetview to see if it was a kebab shop or what exactly it was that had been turned in to a new bar, but alas 69 Swan Street on Streetview plunged us straight in to the depths of the Burnley Tunnel. A few people have written in on this one already so either they're friends of the owner, or it's half decent. Check it out!

Maeve Fox - Richmond - Now open
It's all about Richmond this week. We're glad to hear the ribbon has been cut and Maeve Fox is off and running. In fact, on their Facebook page they even mention asking for bar staff - need a job? Enthusiasm essential, apparently. Sounds good.

New Function Venues

If you use our Function Venues Directory every now and again, you'll be interested in some of the new bar/clubs that have put their details online, such as La Di Da, Tongue and Groove, Wah Wah Lounge, White Bar. We've also taken some venues down again that were unpopular, which means the Function Venues Directory is a very good snapshot of venues that are good for functions.
