Tidy art deco styled bar that is popular for meals and the odd live act. What grabbed our attention was the slightly secretive upstairs area which features comfortable couches including a cosy fireplace in the colder months. The Archer's clean, personal and gentle, with staff happy to make the trek upstairs to take orders. Outdoor seating is handy, too.

The Archers is a unique institution in the Essendon/Moonee Ponds area. The bar dedicated to the Arts offers poetry readings, seasonal life drawing classes, blues, Jazz, trivia- but don t be fooled it s not as eccentric and exclusive as it sounds. The bar staff are extremely friendly and will take extra steps to ensure you enjoy your time. Summer months attract mixed crowds to bask outside in the Sun or to hit off a lazy Sunday session. The beautiful building is actually a re-vamped funeral home, it offers very warm surroundings with dark wooded hues and fairy lights. Good for a meal good for a drink and if your feeling adventurous a fishbowl cocktail.
