Venue type: Pub    Review: Liz Hinds
The Arcadia is one of the few pubs that is a pool shark's dream.

There are of course, the standard features of all pubs: the bar, a beer garden and pool tables. Not just one or two mind you, but a whole room full of them. Picture it: a sea of felt and the background sounds of triumph and dismay as the game is won or lost.

If you are not fans of pool or snooker, don't despair. There are a range of video games to be test driven, and, on some nights, live music from Melbourne's various cover bands.

A small back room and bar exist as well.

Overall, The Arcadia is a great venue for those who enjoy pool and those who enjoy a relaxed venue with a bit of variety.
Always Busy
Saturday nights can get busy with the live music attracting an additional crowd to those who are just out for a good night of pool or billiards.
Music Most Nights
Live music can be found here on weekends. Check the gig guides in all the local papers and keep an ear tuned to the commercial radio stations for who is playing!
Second Opinion
About as un-South Yarra as you can possibly get, the Arcadia keeps pulling in the crowds where many others have failed. Bands will often play here, which means a bit of fun dancing for the girls, while the guys go off and do the pool and video games thing. Perfect: a pub for everyone!

Readers' Reviews
It's really, really dark, the floors are sticky and the chairs/loungues are vinyl. An air of students, RM Williams and rounded vowels pervades. Arcadia is packed full of private school girls, boarding school rurals and urban rurals alike and is an ideal place for the over 25s.

After searching through multiple pubs/bars on MelbournePubs we decided to give Arcadia a whirl on Saturday night - definitely worth it! We got straight in, no cover charge and by the end of the night was packed. Guys please note: be early (after midnight there was a huge queue). Drinks reasonably priced, dancefloor downstairs and if there's no function going on another dancefloor upstairs. Pool tables and big screen TV for sports fans. Friendly crowd.

One of the best pubs in Melbourne. Awesome live music, pretty much every night. Fantastic cover bands every saturday night. Packed with ex-private school boys and girls. A very young and friendly environment, never any fights. Bouncers are friendly. Drinks are reasonably priced and a comparitively cheaper night out compared with a nightclub, even though there is a nightlcub feel upstairs.

Pool tables supurb, great felt, even roll and good straight cues. Friendly and hot barstaff. Nice and clean and by the end of this year, will be one of the first pubs to have a fully incorporated smokers area/bar. Definitely worth going here, especially if you aren't here to cause trouble.

The Arcadia is a great pub if you're 19 and love cover bands. Very popular on a Friday and Saturday night; if you're a couple of years out of high school and live in the inner south-east, the Arcadia is where its at for a big night of dancing, drinking, and the odd game of pool.
