Automatic is an excellent place to meet up for dinner or dinks before hitting the nightclubs. Its location is handy to the CBD and South Melbourne.
Being situated right on the Yarra River also makes Automatic a great place to sit by the water and watch the world go by.
The atmosphere is cheerful, the music upbeat and the food and drinks are yummy! The crowd is hip and trendy.
Get there early if you intend to eat, because tables fill fast around mealtimes. Proximity to the bar may also vary, depending upon the wait for a table.

Get there either really early or really late on the weekends if you want to get a table straight away.

Went with a group of friends for a late Sunday lunch. We were lucky enough to miss out on the busy lunchtime rush and get a table outside.
The service was fast and prompt as with the food. There was a friendly and claim atmosphere in the air. The prices were average for Melbourne which was good.
All in all a good place to eat. Try to avoid peak periods by coming a little earlier or later for a meal. You don't want to be waiting for a table.

Friday & Saturday nights are always busy so it pays to get there early. Recently found out that Automatic accepts bookings for lunch & dinner mid-week for larger groups which is always a bonus. Although located at Crown Casino the prices are very reasonable. Monday nights are a huge bonus, half price pizza and tap beer - great value especially when the weather is good.
