Eagle Bar (La Trobe University)

A good place to go if you are a uni student, especially if you are living close by (say the uni halls of res.). A lot of seedy guys though, so watch out girls!

All in all it's a great place to hang out ... but the best night to go is definitely on a Thursday, and even more so if a band is playing (Stefunk of Menzies College is one of the best cover bands they have - and luckily they are there on a regular basis ... )

Eagle Bar is such a fun night out and is a must for anyone around the uni crowd age, especially if they go to LaTrobe. The bar itself is located on the university grounds but is fairly easy to locate - just head to carpark three and you should be able to find it. The bar consists of 2 sorta rooms, and a fenced off outside lawn area where people can sit or stand and talk and drink. Inside the bar there are two rooms, one of which has the DJ or band and the dance floor, and the other room which has seats, heaps of people just standing around talking and pool tables. Bar night is Thursday night throughout the semester. The busiest nights are the first and last bar nights (Thursdays) of the term, but throughout the semester it draws a decent crowd. The crowd is mainly uni students from LaTrobe especially from the colleges, however locals and people from outside LaTrobe do still come. It's a great atmosphere because everyone is extremely laid back and so you can almost have a conversation with anyone you want. Everyone is up for fun, drinking, picking up and a good time. The only drawback is that it closes at 3am.
