We've heard the Empress Hotel described in such terms as 'Fitzroy's living room'. However, this term seems to be somewhat limiting when describing the Empress Hotel, which offers punters so much more.
Regardless of time of week, the Empress Hotel is always busy of an evening. Local regulars adorn the bar stools to enjoy a quite ale and exchange stories, whilst the music enthusiasts file in later in the evening for the live entertainment.

Second Opinion
It just goes to show how much lighting can offer a place. The Empress is dim, with a soft red glow. That's the front bar, anyway. There's a separate band room which does movies as well, but those simply popping in for a couple will tend to stay in the front room. Tables and chairs are pretty basic, but sometimes it's all that's required. Age and style is your mid twenties upwards Fitzroy type who wants to congregate with similar minded people.

I found The Empress to be a great place with a strong sense of community. A good business is made of good values and fabulous staff, both of which the Empress possesses. Thanks a million - especially to the guy with the beard - hopefully there is only one guy with a beard.
