Venue type: Pub
Review: Mark Davies
First impressions upon entering in the evening would be dim lighting, red lamps and that cosy, intimate pub feel that is typical Fitzroy. A chatty and mature crowd help make the Provincial a key venue in the area. Seeming cavernous in initial size, it's actually smaller than one might think. Standing around the bar is the done thing, with attentive bar staff keeping things flowing well. Well, granted, there are a few tables (and even a sofa) for the sit-down types, but the emphasis is more on a friendly mingle.
A relaxed, lively atmosphere with a diverse mix makes this the Provincial one to keep on the shortlist. Its well-designed layout pays off, with a constant flow of people, all through the week.
Point of note is the bottle shop and separate restaurant, too.

The Provincial Hotel is an awsome venue. If you love a bit of a boogie then Friday and Saturday nites are for you! The DJ spins tracks ranging from old school R'n'B to the latest dance hits. The staff are all outstanding; by this I mean quick entry, speedy service at the bar and friendly security.
