Venue type: Bar
Review: Julie Whiting
Arched brickwork, exposed ceiling beams, church-style chairs and lots and lots of wood give this cool bar rustic appeal (and the look of a sauna in parts.) Among HolliAva's various nooks and crannies is a wooden, tubular room which looks like a ship's galley and invites people to cram in and pull up a beanbag. Meanwhile a spiral staircase invites others to check out a particularly decadent room upstairs.
The crowd is cool and fashionable like the venue itself, and you won't be out of place enjoying a champagne or cocktail. If you have itchy feet you'll need to go elsewhere though, as HolliAva is sans-dancefloor.
Outdoor Area / Beer Garden
Down the back is a fab beer garden with a retractable roof which closes into a heated room in winter and lets the stars shine through in summer.
Readers' Reviews
Tucked away (if that's possible) on Swan Street across Richmond Station and the Hollywood Pizza, where many people order an informal meal. The courtyard offers a year round drinking area, and has been fully enclosed. Along with a number of separate darkened rooms, including a swank not so little beanbag room.
Not to mention a fine wine selection; and, for the beer lovers, pots have been replaced with the more respectful schooners (that's the bigger glass). It seem to attract a combination of locals and city dwellers, most people are likely to fit, but don't expect to have a dance on the dance floor because there isn't one.
All round decent bar that'll be getting my dollars again.
