Open seven days till 7am, that's how we like our city pubs to be. The Exford, majorly popular with the late hospitality workers, is about as laid back as a pub can be. Stained glass windows in the middle of Chinatown keep secret the pool table and video jukebox that pull in no end of life all day and night long. Granted, there will be the odd crazy character or two in the wee hours, but it's by all means a reliable place to find entertainment at all hours of the day. Karaoke, for example, which might start at 10pm, is often still kicking at 2am in the morning.
The jukebox here is an institution, with possibly the longest waiting time in Melbourne.
A small note should be made of the Exford's upstairs area, the Wintergarden Room, which has a more loungey feel. It's open most nights until late.
Always Busy
Majorly. The Exford is immensely popular.
Beer Garden
A small outdoor terrace features on the way to the first floor.
Music Most Nights
A video jukebox gets constant attention, with an average waiting time of several hours at least.
Popular With Travellers
There's accommodation available on-site, and the backpackers love a game of pool. Just make sure you sort out all those two shots rules beforehand.
Readers' Reviews
The Exford (or for the locals the Ex) is the place to be at the end of the night. Loving the regulars, if you go there more than once you get to know people. Everyone is always friendly and the alcohol helps!
It is a good honest Ozzy pub, bit rough round the edges but is truly the diamond amongst all those over done over hyped bars you find in the city.
And better still takeaways till 7am.
