Venue type: Bar, Club
Review: Lush Green
This is a Pony with a difference. You won't find any saddles or riding boots by the front door but you will find "Punch" (a toy pony of course!) propped up by the bar having a quiet pint of Mountain Goat. He's missing an ear, but he's very friendly and loves a chat - and so do the bar staff at Pony. The main room is incredibly cosy and welcoming. The walls are deep red. Retro lampshades provide some soft lighting while chilled out music plays in the background. Upstairs provides an intimate, rather bohemian venue for various entertainers appearing later in the week. Pony is unpretentious, relaxed and comfortable - the perfect place to hide from the masses after a stressful day.
Always Busy
With a 7am close, Pony consistently rocks. Especially so after other places close, so get in early, as they say.
Music Most Nights
In a word, alternative, although a multitude of events are held here that might offer other music.
Second Opinion
Absolutely still going strong after all those years, me wonders if it's the lack of cover charge or the friendly vibe that keeps bringing 'em in. Or maybe it's the music. Or the opening hours. Or just good old beer on tap.
